Naval Vessel Collision with Passenger Ferry

On December 18, 2024, an Indian naval vessel collided with a passenger ferry, *Neelkamal*, near Mumbai's coast. The ferry, en route to Elephanta Caves, was carrying over 100 passengers when it capsized due to the collision. 


Tragically, 13 people, including navy personnel, lost their lives, and rescue operations are ongoing with divers and helicopters deployed to search for survivors. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed condolences and announced financial assistance for the victims' families. 


After collision the rescue team came after 20 minutes, although incident occurred near navy area, the incident has raised questions about maritime safety protocols.
